Spoilers: Episode 17 or so. No huge plot points or anything though.
Other: First time writing for Misa. Let's see how I do.

Amane Misa was many things. She was exuberant, easily excitable, and sometimes a tad annoying. However, she was no idiot. Her determination and planning skills had led her to find Kira, and finding Light had kept her there with him.

From the first she was excited; a boy like Light appeared to be was one she'd only ever dreamt would love her, and he was Kira too! Amane Misa, one of the original Kira followers--no, worshippers, wasn't he a god to her? She usually didn't put it like that, but she certainly knew (thought) it to be true--and the first one to be granted a power like his.

It wasn't until later that she realized it was bittersweet. Light may have been kind once, but Kira loved only justice--and power. Still, she had expected that. No one so great as Kira could be expected to love a mere mortal, and she wasn't fooled into thinking he did.

Misa still believed that Light had it in him to love her, but Light was not Kira. It didn't matter to her. As long as she could be by his side, she would sacrifice anything--half her lifespan she already had, and would do it again.

It didn't matter. Loving Light was the simplest thing of all to her. To be allowed to do that, she would never complain. Maybe one day, when the world was right, he would be able to love her. She waited patiently for it, doing everything he said to make it arrive.

It wasn't until just before she forgot it all that her world was shattered. Light could never love her. He would only ever use her. Such a simple few words for such a devastating blow.

Light and Kira had always been the same, and now she knew. How ironic it was that only with a blinder on she was finally able to see the truth.

No, I do not want Misa to be happy. Why do you ask?
